Daily news stories remind us that women are still battling for liberation from violence, discrimination, and unfair treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women continue to fight for their voices to be acknowledged and their rights to be upheld, whether on the streets, in professional settings, or within their homes. Although our Constitution and legal framework guarantee equality, the true challenge is altering societal attitudes and ensuring that justice is delivered promptly and equitably.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Despite progressive laws and rising representation, Indian women continue to face systemic barriers in safety, dignity, and equality \u2014 proving that empowerment is incomplete without enforcement.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This article examines the main challenges women face in India, the laws designed to protect them, and some recent events that highlight the significant progress still needed to transform India into a genuinely safe and equitable environment for all women.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Major Issues Faced by Women<\/b><\/h2>\n<h2><b style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Gender-Based Violence\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Violence against women remains one of India\u2019s most pressing issues. This encompasses domestic violence, sexual assault, dowry-related crimes, acid attacks, and workplace harassment.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), 51 FIRs related to violence against women are filed every hour in India (2025).
