The Gujarat high court on Tuesday disposed of a petition filed by a former acting president of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for reappointment after her five-year term ended. Former judicial member of NCLT, Ahmedabad, Manorama Kumari, filed a petition in the high court seeking directions to the central government to reappoint her in the tribunal on the post she held between 2016 and 2021 under provisions of section 413 of the Companies Act, 2013. She debited the office as acting president. Before her appointment as NCLT member, she practised in Gauhati HC.
It was submitted on her behalf that there is a provision of re-appointment in NCLT for five years.
