Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of MP high court ordered the management of Narmada Paramedical Science College to pay a compensation of Rs 25,000 to each student at the college for admitting them without obtaining affiliation from the MP Medical Science University, Jabalpur. The college had filed a petition in the MP high court challenging the decision of the medical university not to allow students at the college to appear in the exam.

The bench of Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Virendra Singh, however, found that the college didn’t have affiliation to the medical university following which it not only imposed a cost of Rs 50,000 on the college but also ordered the college management to pay Rs 25,000 to each student for “wasting” their time.

Narmada Paramedical College in its petition said that based on recognition received from MP Paramedical Council, it had given admission to 50 students for a two–year course of lab technician in 2018-19. After two years of studies, MP Medical University had declined to allow them to appear in the exam, which would lead to waste of two years of the students.

During hearing of the petition, however, the court found that the college had not obtained affiliation to the university for the course and MP Paramedical Council had given recognition to the college in 2019-20 without due inspection.

Following this, the court imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the college and also ordered it to pay Rs 25,000 to each of the students. Advocate Satish Verma appeared in the case for the medical university.
